I have an 01 ram 1500 4x4,not the off road packageand im having a tough time choosing between 33 or 35 inch tires,mainly because of money.not so much cause of the cost of the tires themseves but because, of lift, gears and so forth that would come with putting on 35swith 33s ican get away with leveling blocks and some new shocks.main question is should i wait and take my time to buy what i need for 35s and bigger lift or be happy with some 33s and leveling kit.

 

could you give us a little more info, ie moter size, truck sice (1500, 2500 ect)

if you go with 35's your gonna probely want some ofset rims (or your gonna be rubbing bad), a cupple (3) inches of lift (so they have good clearence in your wheel wells), prob gonna wanna re-gear to 4.10 ( especialey if your like me and have a 5.2 it will be a lot more slugish and going down the highway its gonna wanna kick out of OD alot)

with 33's you shouldent half to do that stuff (thow it would help) , they should fit right in,

and before you ase what the big diffrence in 2 inches of hight makes, there is auchually qite a bit there is a lot more rotational mass for your truck to turn with 35's
im not trying to discurage you at all thow 35' will look wicked on there

 

thanks for the help its the 360 v-8 1500 if i go with the 33s im gonna put 4 inch blocks in the rear 3inch spacers up front new track bar and new shocks all around

 

if you put that much lift you will have more than enough room for 35's, (just sayng) the 360 will be able to turn them better too (i only have a 318) standerd or auto?

 

i'dwouldn'tbutmore then a3" block in the rear if you only go 3" in the front becuase it'll rake it out even more then it is now an will look wierd imo

Yep thats true, you could get the 5.9 and a manual, it is fairly uncommon, but it is out there.
As for your lift, usually the rear will need one inch less lift than the front to compensate for the factory rake.

FWIW, 5" is usually the number when dealing with 1500's to clear 35's properly. There are guys out there doing it with 3 and 4 inch lifts, but 5" is a gaurantee.

I put 295's (34" tires) on my Ram whenI first got it with just a Rancho 3" lift. Although it looked good, I think if I took it off road it would have rubbed, even with the 16" x 8" wheelsI had with 4" backspacing.

 

i dont have any problems with 35's and a 3 inch lift in the front and 2 in the back, and i go offroad with it quite often atlest every weekend, havent rubed yet, IMO if you go much bigger in lift youll need bigger tires to fill the whole. my only problem is the fact i need to get new rims, i dont have enough backspacing but no lift will fix that

 

my ram has 3inch blocks in back from the factory and sits 2inches lower in front so i thought replacing the 3inch in back with 4inch and 3inch spacers in front things would be pretty level still same as if i were to leave the back with the 3inch blocks and put 2inch spacers up front
