Truck got Vandalized...Recommendation Needed!
Being a Veteran myself it kills me to see anyone serving in themilitarydisrespected like that. Thanks for your service and best of luck with your truck.
Not sure how the line-x would look but it would protect against future rock chips also.

The guy said he would coat the whole truck, but not sure how that would look. Any ideas? Anybody actually done it?

^Dude, that truck looks badass! Who'd though a truck would look that nice covered in line-x. I would love to have a road armor bumper but the only problem is that they are made for 2500/3500's and I own a 1500. It kinda makes me wish I had bought a 2500.

Anyone interested in a slightly scratched, modified, unknown Road Armor front bumper????

Im in the Houston/ Lubbock area, and would have no problem taking it off your hands

iamjohnnyr: Houston/Lubbock area....that's a pretty big area! I haven't thought about it much yet, didn't think too many people would be interested in it knowing it's not an exact fit. It's really close though, which makes me think it was for a Dakota or something. I guess about $400 or $500 would be reasonable, that's about a 1/3 of new cost. I need to find out the ETA on getting a new first though, would hate to not have a bumper for 2 months....let me know if you're interested.
That truck was probably the best looking one I've seen fully sprayed. Problem is my truck is black and the black I think is the hardest to make look good. I have thought about other color options though, maybe going red with black rockers or something. I'm going to do some more searching on the net before deciding and talk to Rhino Liner to see what their options are. Anybody see some killer color combos I might be able to incorporate, I have gray interior. I like the black/red idea, but would consider blues, silvers and greys...maybe something else if it really hit me, but I'll still have jambs and stuff painted black, so it can't be too weird of a combo.
eric99ram: I'm pretty sure the Road Armor series fits the 1500. I can't think of any differences in the front end between the 2500 & 1500, maybe at the frame mounts. I would consult a book on that and call one of these guys before looking elsewhere

These are Road Armor bumpers as far as I can tell, same design, even use the same Stealth names, but go under the company name "Winch Ready", looks to be a couple hundred cheaper too. They show a 1500 available for 02+.
I also saw these bumpers from OffRoadTech, not sure I like them though. Wait a few secs on the front page and the Dodge ones with go through the slide show. These are about $1100, but weigh in at 250lbs...definitely not as pretty, but nice.

I don't like those from offroadtech at all, those things are ugly. I looked at the winch ready's and the bumpers they have for 97-01/02 are for heavy duty trucks. They only make them for 02 light duty 1500's and up. Is there really any difference in the front end of a light duty and a heavy duty? I really can't figure out how they'd be different when the bodies between both are the same.
I agree on the Offroadtech stuff. If they had covered the outer 2 section it would look better.
Talked to Rhino Liners today...even worse than Line-X. $789.99 for just the rockers to be sprayed.
Guess I just need to decide on whether I'm going for rockers only or the full thing.....They say it can't be buffed or polished, but I don't see how it couldn't be. I think if anything it could be color sanded to be less textured.

I was thinking of doing something like this, but I was going to use the paint on stuff for the bed. I want to put it on the lower part of the sides, where the rust is getting fairly bad. if you look at my pics, the area where my step is, about 2" up
What do you guys think? seems like a much cheaper way of protecting the truck. Also, I think the black would contrast well with my white truck.
P.S. that "truck looks really bad ***, I like the texture!

Better get some rust sealer before you start spraying over bad rust areas. If it just surface, you're fine, but rot will eventaully cause to step right through the spray on liner. Roll on stuff works, not as nice, but for the bed I don't think it matters much. Just make sure you prep the surface properly beforehand.
I'm hesitant to get the whole truck done, at least in black. I think the colors look better, black would just look too plain without the smooth glossy paint! I'm looking into a few things. Trying to find out if they will spray on a design or a fade, doubtful, but possible.
