Default Problem Reclining Seats

It seems like both of my seats no longer recline...it's like they're locked up. I tried using the recliner handles to recline the chairs until the handles itself got damage (groves worn down)...now I have to replace those. Do any of you know what could be causing this problem?

I had a similar problem where my seat belts won't pull-out but that was due to a disconnection under the seat...and I thought the seat belts wear manually independant.

I had the same problem with my driver seat not reclining and stripped the handle. I tried pliers but couldn't get them to grab hold of the spindle w/out fear of stripping it too. Had to take it to the dealership to get fixed. Now I adjust the seat every so often to avoid the lockup. No idea what happened.

I had a problem with my drivers seat not wanting to slide back and forth. Apparently some one got to rough with the handle and bent the little metal bar under there. The spring is also missing. I somehow wedged a piece of wood under there and fixed it.

yea i figured, i got in the truck last night and started messin with it, i think the system was completely locked. the handle has stripped on the spindle so i took that off and replaced it with vice grips for the time being but i jiggled the spindle for a good couple of minutes while looking under the seat to see if i could see anything getting caught (i saw thats what people were doing in their third gen), then i took off my cover from around the seat and saw the wire running right under the spindle moving a bit with it, i decided to start moving it a bit more and more then it finally came lose, i dont know if it was that easy the whole time or if its just because i jiggled it for a good bit either way if yall have this same issue i definitely recommend jiggling it before you attempt to force it
