Wanted! All DIY writeups...
hey guys... I just read a thread where someone did an oil pump writeup and it made me think... this section needs a thread similar to this one
https://dodgeforum.com/m_578941/tm.htm
where all the DIY's are in 1 thread at the top and are organized better where you can find the links easier... If you can post them here, I will organize them in a thread at the top...

hey steve here is one i did how to change the wheel barrings, its gotta be edited thow (my spelling and grammer and all that sucks ) truck i did it on was a 98 1500 4x4

step 1: chock wheels, (all the safty mumbo jumbo)
step 2 lift up the wheel your gonna change the barring on
step 3: remove tire
step 4: remove brake callaper, there is 2 allen head bolts on the back side once they are out lift it out you may half to wiggle it a bit and be careful not to stress the break like you dont wanna half to change them at the same time do you lol, place it on something so it cant fall and isent stressing the line
step 5 remove roter, if they have never been of before there will be a cupple clips on the wheel studs, break them off then the roter will just pull off
step 6 remove cotter pin from axle nut
step 7 remove axle nut, the way i did this is i took a pry bar suck it in the nuckle by the wheel to keep the axle from spinning (when you put it in put it in such a way that it is resting on the forged part not the u-joint) the nut is metric but can be removed with a 1 11/16 or 1 3/4 (i used 1 3/4 cuz i dont have a metric set that big and my 1 11/16 was missing but the 1 3/4 was a bit sloppy) it may take a lot of force to break it loose if the barring has been gone for a while and has been getting hot, i broke a 1/2 in drive breaker bar and had to borrow a buddys 3/4 drive and about 8 feet of pipe
step 8 remove the 3 bolts holding the hub assy on you will need a 12 point 9/16 socket (1/2 in drive) and once they start to come out you will half to use a boxed end wrench
step 9 remove hub assy. it will most likey be rusted in take a thin chassle or a blade screwdriver that isent your favort and hammer it in-bee-tween the hub and the housing working your away around it untill it comes off when you take the hub off be carefull not to move the axle too much or pull it out, if you do you may scar the axle seal and that is a much harder job
step 10 when the put the new hub on and work your way back of the order it all came off
step 11 stand back and enjoy and send me a beer j/k
here is one on how to tighten up the steering it should be crediteded to dhvaughan thow
from

spray the top of the steering box with a little brake cleaner to clean the dirt off.
work on the truck from underneath. key turned on one notch to unlock the steering wheel, but truck not running. wheels on ground.
use a 16 mm wrench and a 4.5 mm hex wrench (i think, if not 4.5, then 5.0)
insert the hex wrench into the center of the adjusting screw and point it towards the front of the truck.
hold the hex wrench and loosen the locknut.
have wife, g/f. wiggle steering wheel, or else get up and down a lot.
tighten hex wrench about 1/4 turn at a time to take up the play. i turned mine about 3/4 turn to take up 2 inches of play in the wheel.
hold hex wrench and tighten locknut.
you're done, take it for a test drive.

Strap wrench trick for water pump pully (if you don't have one)...
Take your old serpentine belt and a large vise-grip, loop belt around w/p pully and pull both ends under the alternator pully then over it. On top of the alternator pully, double the belt back to the left (towards passenger), the belt will be 4-thick because you have doubled it, clamp the vise-grip over the doubled belt tight directly on top of the alt pully so that it levers to the right so as to tighten the beltaround the water pump pully. You now have a shade-tree strap wrench! Push the vise-grip right while pulling the big wrench on the fan nut left. Takes a little practice, but I've had plenty.
Wow, that was easier to do than to say...

I have several I have written, but am leary to put out on a public forum. If someone (namely a newbie mechanic without much skills or tools) tries something using my instructions, and it doesn't go as smoothly as it did on my own truck, I don't want to be liable for any possible damages to their vehicle, or worse. I give them out on a case by case basis when I think someone needs a write-up to assist them with somthing they are already pretty familiar with, and I have done.

well the whole point of a DIY is to give them guidance... anyone who is starting to wrench has to start somewhere. I've had a few pm me on the plenum fix mentioning they would not have attemted it w/o the writeup. It's up to you if you want anything you wrote included, if you choose not to I certainly wont hold it against you.
as for the disclaimer, the DIY section has its own posted disclaimer

its short, sweet and to the point, and it looks to me that it does cover DF and its memebers that post the DIY ,, it says that these writeups are guids and to be USED AT YOUR OWN RISK
to me, that alleivates any legal pressure or quams..
im sure amanda or pat wont mind us using the same on just posted in a different area.. steve, you wanna ask them?
my MSD install is in that thread if you wanna yank it and swap it around.. its up to you
