A shot in the dark, but, how's your pcv valve, hoses, and connections?

I notived that the PCV vavle was rattling like crazy the other day, but I figured it was backpressure from the cat causing it. I will swap those out this afternoon and see if that helps any. Lord knows I would rather spend $10 bucks on a PCV valve that $200 having the cat swapped out.

Don't just swap stuff. Test the pcv 1st. Take the intake line off the opposite valve cover and place a piece of paper over the hole and see if there is any suction. If so, pcv is ok. Also, take the pcv valve out of the valve cover and shake it. It SHOULD rattle.

I actually just went ahead and swapped the PCV valve out, didnt get your message until after that, but now the issue is gone. The codes has cleared itself, there is no CE light showing at all and the truck is running awesoem.
Thanks,
Gene

That happens to my dads ford all the time...
It was in and out of the dealer at least 20 times for that problem, and he tryed a smaller repair shop after it was out of warentee...

You probably have bigger problems, my dads truck has some wireing problem that likes to fry pcms... hes on his 4th I think. Its been fine for at least 5000 miles now so maybe its fixxed finaly...

Gene, Get Out! Ya mean the simple thing worked this time?
Lucky you! Would you mind picking 6 numbers out for me for this weeks lotto?!
Hoping that's all it was and all your problems should be that easy to fix.

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

****E

Doesnt seem like it was quite that simple after all. It is spitting and sputtering again unless I lay into the throttle, but once I am over 2k rpm it runs fine. I am an old VW beetle guy too, and the truck almost acts like a beetle when it starts "carb-loading" from running hot. I dont have any temp issues though. Anyone got any other ideas to try yet??

Gene,
OK, how does it run in OPEN loop (cold engine)? Because now I'm thinking it may be timing related, either injectors running rich or crank sensor. Nothing solid though, just some more thoughts.

Well it happens when it is cold or hot, just seems like it happens more when I am sitting in traffic than out on the highway at speed.
