ABS and BRAKE lights stuck on
My ABS and Brake dash lights won't go off. It just started this evening after nothing unusual. I don't know what could be causing this. The brake fluid level is ok. Does anyone know if the ABS sensor is on either side in the rear or if it's picking up off of both rear wheels? Could it be a build up of brake dust? Maybe one side is adjusted too tight? - thanks
Has your speedometer been acting funny at all? When i had my second gen truck my speed sensor went out on me, the brake lights stayed on and my speedometer jumped around all over the place. Just a thought...
My speedo is fine. Actually, if it weren't for the lights, you wouldn't know anything was funky.
Where is that sensor located on the rearend? Is that on the axle itself?

Does it hurt anything driving around like this? I won't be able to get to the dealer till tomorrow and hopefully that's what it is. It doesn't drive any different but I want to make sure my rearend doesn't lock up on the highway or something freakish like that. - thanks

No it won't hurt it. But should ck the ABS for codes 1st before replacing any parts. If you have a rear sensor open code then replace sensor and ck for metal on the sensor too. Thats because if you pos track on the rear diff , the clips holding the clutches in the rear diff break. But if you have a relay code, the relay is inside the ABS module, that screw to the top of the abs assy. not hard to replace.
How about this guys. I had a sneaky suspicion that I had no brake lights too. Checked them this morning, sure enough. Fix for the whole thing? A 15amp fuse in the cab blew. The one for the brakes. And, a replacement is right there on the fuse panel door. Cost... zippolicious. Oh yeah. Woo hooooooo. One small victory for vehicle owner!
