the 360 is an awesome motor and I'd recommend it. in my 2000 QC 4x4 I averaged 13.5~14.5 mpg with 34" tires on it, 4.11 gearing. and that is with the crap gas we get here in CA... outside CA mileage was high 14's, low 15's.

I say, if you find the truck you want, get it regardless of the motor.

 

see I would say that too but when im lookin at over 100k miles i like to know how everyone feels about the motor... the 98 im lookin at has like 130k miles

 

That 360 is barely broke-in with only 130K miles!

I had 185k on my 2000 5.9 when I sold it... ran perfect, used no oil and had lots of power. modded of course. run synthetics and you'll have a happy motor.

 

i only run synthetics [8D]lol but my fear is that since sadly most people dont... if its had 130k with non synthetics.... id say most of the damage is done no?

 

overall if u want a strong motor that will last long, get the 360.

 

What the hell do they want you to get if not a 360? cause the only way you're going to do better is to get a cummins, but you'll do a nose dive if you take it a mud pit.

I got a 360 and with about 102,000 miles there is nothing wrong with it. Doesn't burn one drop of oil. and I get about 14-16 mpg.
