Default Problem draining coolant

Alright, this should be pretty straight forward...

I know where the coolant drain valve is, and I was all ready with a bucket and a hose... I turned the little valve thingy 90 degrees and nothing happens... no coolant comes out...

The plug/valve thingy feels liek it only wants to go 90 degrees and feels like if I were to force it, it would break.

Does anyone know if im doing it right? maybe mines defective? Plugged?

My plans were to do the plennum gasket tomarow, and I hope this isnt a sign of wahts to come... grr.

my 01 has this funky plastic plug. you turn it 90* left and then pull it out (back towards firewall), and then turn it a little more left. i think there is an o-ring in there that makes it kind of snug. its all plastic so don't get to stout with it.

the block drain plug on my passenger side was very stubborn. after it rounded off i clamped the vise grips on it very very tight and then put a cheater pipe on the pliers to break it loose. to reinstall i had to file the hex head back down flat and used some teflon liquid sealer and barely snugged them up.

I started to get serious and get out the big tools and break them, but I wasn't feeling lucky and I was running out of daylight. Next flush they are coming off.

I ended up getting it, and a few hours later I had the intake manifold off... Im just cleaning it up now... Im ****ing pissed at my self casue I dident clean good enough at first... I spent like 25 mins cleaning the dirt from around the manifold and i used compressed air to blow it away and I was confident that I did a good job... well obviously I dident... a whole bunch of dirt fell down the intake ports and into my lifter valley... doh!

I used a shop vac with a corner atachment thing to vaccum out the intake ports...

don't worry about it. when you finish you'll be runnin the truck for about 15 minutes or more while your filling the radiator and admiring your work. the oil filter will catch the dirt. after your done with all that just change the oil.

Alright thanks...

If any one cares I will post up pics of the engine... I know I would always liek that.

From a few of the pics ive seen of peoples lifter valley;s they are alot dirtyer than mine... I was really happy, there was NO sludge or anything... just normal oil puddles... it was kinda dark in there but thats expected... very clean.
