Do you still have your spare?
well I have both on my truck. I am not sure if the spare has air in it still. I cant take of my rims with the lug wrench so It doesn't do me much good. I have to have a thin wall deep socket to get them off. If I was smart I would keep a spare one in my truck. I have a 285/75 spare in my garage that is not mounted on a rim, that really does me no good.
I still have the spare, its in the bed of the truck. The carrier rusted out and the spare fell off one day onto the road. Good thing nobody was behind me. I left it in the garage so I could repair the carrier, until it rained. I almost spun the truck around on a corner in heavy rain. I still need replace the carrier, but I can't see spending $75 on it.
Still have the original spare and jack. I carry a 4-barlug wrenchso I have the right size if the trailers' tirego flat too. The jack is way too short, so I have a couple wooden blocks in the toolbox for added height.
The lug nuts are always a beotch to get loose even with an air-gun, so I'm sure the lug-wrench would be virtually useless if I needed it.

I just have no desire to be without my spare, it's never been on the ground and I hope to keep it that way.

Have it but haven't needed it yet. Had to use the one on my 2004 GMC 2500 work truck and it sucked. Broke the carrier when I cranked the flat back under. If you crank too far it locks the carrier inside and you have to cut it back off.
I still have my spare and the jack and never used them.I need to remove my spare because the previous owner didn't put a tail pipe on the exhaust when he put in a flowmaster and the pipe ends right on the tire so a good portion of it is messed up. But I always want to spare removed so i'd have some more room with my exhaust.
I still have my spare
but I have thought about removing it
and the hoist assembly
for weight reduction.
If you have never used them,
those new tire repair plugs
that look like rubber screws
are much easier than the older types
you have to push through and pull back with a tool.
I would estimate 70% of the time
carrying the rubber screws, tube of adhesive, and 12 V air compressor
would get you back on the road
without using a spare tire.
