Someone help me!
I have a 1998 Dodge Ram Sport. I decided to look for parts on the internet and I later found out I couldn't even find my truck. The 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport exists right? I mean I have it! lol. It's just that I have seen 1998 single cab sport models, but their 4x4. Mine isn't.
I really want to know the history of this truck. I got scared since I couldn't find it anywhere. Which is odd. My friend told me that perhaps my truck was a regular1500, but they madeit a sport. I don't think so, though. It has all the badges and everything. The truck is factory red.I wonder if it's rare..ahah.
Sorry but there is nothing rare about it. The sport package was only an appearance package. Most parts you may need are interchangeable with any 1500 ram other than your bumpers and you grill if I remember correctly.
So, what i've learned so far is that a 1998 Dodge Ram Sport 1500 package was only for appearance, plus you get a V8. Basically any1998 Dodge Ram 1500 parts will fit my truck? Does anybody know where I can get one of those bumpers found on the later sport models for my 1998 sport? I hate my freaking bumper! Also, can I put 1500 Ram custom headlights on my Ram without a problem? Most headlights won't fit a sport.
The bracketry for a later model sport package is a bit more complex due to the urethane shell that covers it, unlike your 98 which uses a regular bumper painted body color. You might find a used one online, but it'll be pricy. You'll also need the correct grill shell and grill. I don't know if the bracketry to mount it to the hood is different.
Do you have quad headlamps (2 per side)? If you do, any aftermarket lamp assembly for a sport will work. If you don't, you'll have to buy them for a ram. They are on ebay, but I've heard dubious tales about quality. So doa forumsearch before buying! Quad headlamps can also be adapted but it may require trimming and for sure some wiring changes.
Somewhere on here theres a service manual downloadfor a 2001 ram. It may show some of the sport pieces so you can compare.

Nope, all 98 1500's came with a V8, just the grille, bumper and painted taillights, and stickers thats it.

Yeah, I also think that finding a bumper is going to be a hassle. So E-bay headlights suck? I liked some of the one's I saw, but I don't prefer price over quality. And LMC truck parts are expensive and suck. They have a limited amount for a Dodge Ram! Very little stuff. Has anyone bought parts on ebay? Are they reliable for Rams?
You have to be careful with Sport headlights, they're different then non-Sport
Non-Sports have a single bulb with dual filament.
Sports have 2 bulbs, one for low beams, one for high beams. The wiring is a bit different but you could wire to work with non-sport headlights if you find a good schematic.
The Sport headlights are known to be MUCH better then non-Sport headlights. They throw a lot more light.
