MPG expectations
currently getting 10mpg. 1996 dodge ram 1500 5.2 4x2 bad cat. converterfor sure but not sure on o2 sensors.no signs of tune up done. so im guess it will improve with a tune up. stock suppose to have 225/75/16 tires but it has 265/75/16 right now.this is what i have planned.
spark plugs
ignition wires
ignition coil
distributor cap and rotor
gutted cat or high flow cat
new o2 sensor
fuel filter
air filter
pcv valve
225/75/16 tires
i do mainly city driving about 20-30 miles a day. so im hoping the smaller tires help as well as the other parts.
would 14-16 city driving be realistical oris that for highway driving?

14 city 16 highway easy...mine got 17.2 this summer but now i avg 15 using the AC....i see fuel filter is on your list to do's only way that will happen is that you change the pump in the gas tank thats all 1 unit...
If your calculating your mileage from your odometer, you have to remember the larger than stock tires throws out your speedo/odometer so you actually are traveling farther than what the odometer is reading.
I get about 10-12 mpg city but I'm a lead footed. If I was to lighten up on the gas pedal I'd probably be able to see 14 mpg city

The two biggies so far for me were:
-Electric fans in stead of clutch fan
-New cat and muffler; single side swept
This tank also has a good mixture of Marvels M oil in it; not sure if that is a strong factor or not.
My goal is to make it home on the same tank of gas. My 05 Silverado couldn't even pull it off the last time I was out this way.
well atleast there is hope...lol
Padodgeram, i didnt know it was all one unit. good to know
Ramdamit98, iforgot about that. i thoughtthe larger tires just gave me worst gas because it had tomove more to gorotation but i didnt thinkthe mile gauge was effected, thanks.
Lee Wallace, which electric fan did you install? after i do the tune up i plan to buy and install gibsons super truck exhuast. that should be around the same as a single side sweep right?

did a highway trip doing bout 70-75 i was gettin 21 with the tail gate up and no cover/cap. i have a 5.9, A4 and 4.10s with 275/70R70s my only mod is a thrust glass pack and a turn down after the cab
Best ive ever gotten was 20, but that was tailgating a semi the 99% of the way
. Usually my truck will return about 13mpg @ 80 MPH 17mpg @ 60MPHand anywhere from 12-14mpg intown. In thewinterthose figures drop about 2 mpg each.
