Default MORE power

hi guys, i am new to this forum and i just sold my third mustang cause i want to get a ram again

my first was a 98 1500 Quad Cab short bed 4x4 with a 5.2 and it really seemed like a dog, especially when i was pulling my boat(and only an 18ft boat). So i was just wondering what u guys do to these trucks to get more power and who{if anyone} has here or make a supercharger or some kind of power adder for these trucks.

my 98 had true duals with no cats and turbo mufflers and a drop in k&n and that was all for mods

thanks alot

Josh

on a side note, my wife drives an 03 durango with a 4.7 and it definetly wouldn't hurt to have some more power out of that too

they make supercharger kits for ram but its gonna run you about 4 grand. start simple add ons, 14x3 round air filter, exhaust, better plugs and wires, switch to synthetic oils all around, 50mm intake for the 5.2. 52mm intake for the 5.9, that should be a good starting point, or just get all that on the 5.9 360. Losing the spare tire and other non essentials for weight loss helps a lil bit. or just dump 4k on the supercharger kit lol

If you havent bought the truck yet be sure to go for a 5.9 and not a 5.2. 1/2-1mpg loss is well worth the couple extra hp and lots more torque the 5.9 will give you. The 5.9s tend to respond to mods better than a 5.2 will. Make sure it has 410 gears

Add
14"round open element air filter (if not in the south)
50mm tb (you tow, dont go 52mm)
1.7rr (Harland Sharp)
Headersof your choiceand a Magnaflow h/f cat (leave exhaust behind the cat)
Get a programmer for the computer.
If the mileage isnt to high on the new truck switch to synthetic fluids in the mtr, trans and diff. Usually good for 1/2-3/4mpg and couple more rwhp.

Above willgive you something that will tow well and get reasonable mileage.

Superchargers start a 4k and go up in price. Tend to like having a few other bolts ons with them.
No comparision in the gains you would get from one but can cost head gaskets on a stock motor.
Besides summit you can also check out Hughes Engines and KRC Performance. Dont expect to see parts in a timely fashion from KRC though.

www.thefastman.com for the tb
