This is my Labor Day project.
So are you all saying that the aluminum replacement pan from Hughes isn't really needed? This is a job I'd prefer to only do once, so if the Hughes pan is better, I'll go that route. Wouldn't mind saving money for another mod though.

i recommend the hughes aluminum plate, and their gasket kit/bolts. i think that re-using the original sheet metal plate will cause it to eventually fail again. its a lot of work. only do it once.
i put felpro gasket and new bolts on mine several months ago...i sold the truck locally.. and the guy that bought it still drives the crap outta it.. and has no complaints what so ever.. and its still in tact... only problem i had was at first i DID NOT replace the bolts.. first one b usted off.. i had to drill it out.. then i replaced all of them
Well, I've already removed the fan and shroud as I'm running electric. Changed out the AC and the TB already so I know those can come off pretty quickly. Alt's got like 5 connection points, should be quick, not that I'm trying to set a plenum gasket replacement record. Already changed out the Thermo and filed down the "front" plate. Just got to re-acquire the gasket and RTV, get a fuel line quick disconnect., oh yeah beer!
Thanks for the advice on the Hughes kit. Need to order that now I guess to get it here by Labor Day weekend.

when i did mine, we got the fule lineunhooked from under the cab and just pulled the line up from there. I didn't have the line dissconector on hand. Was a bit of a pain since the line is partially metal but it got done. Hughes will overnight you stuff if you need it fast.
3/8 inch disconnect tool is only about $5. its just a simple little split circle that wraps around the line, then you slide it in, and it spreads the fingers inside the coupling. hughes is prtty fast, i bought mine online on a sunday night, regular shipping, and got them on friday.
