Default turn signal problems

I've got a 96 ram 1500 and my turn signals won't flash.if I hit thehazards, theyflash, but if I use the turn signal - no flashing, just a straight light in each bulb and on the coorespondingindication arrow in the dash. I changed all the bulbs, checked all the interior fuses, and changed a blown fuse in the engine compartment fuse box...still nothing. anyone else had this problem?

fuse may be seated improperly and not blown- reseat, or change out..
mine did this, after replacing the fuse, it corrected the problem immediately.
next would be a wiring problem, but lets hope it isnt that.

Thanks, tried that, it didn't work...bummer. I thought about the wiring, but everything looks like it's well covered with wire protector. If I were looking for the ground for turn signals, where would i look? thanks again for your help.

i'd replace the flasher in the end of the dash. even though its flashing on hazard, because its not expensive and it eliminates one more easy possibility.

i belive upto 97 had seprate flashers for the hazard lights and signal lights i think one is on the front side of the fuse box and the other is behind it you half to reach up from under the dash to get to it, try switching them if the sigss work but not haz then you have a bad flasher

you have a pinched wire in the column. thats why they started working again when you moved it.

Edit: or it could be the switch also.

you can remove the covers around the column, and expose the multifunction switch and the wiring harness that goes to it. there's must be 20-30 wires in that bundle, with a big ol connector. they can get pinched and broken. you'll need a long skinny torx to remove the bolts that hold on the cover. while you're there, you can unplug the 2 wire connector on the ignition swith to stop the door open - key in switch - ding ding ding ding.

Default adjusting steering column worked!

Thanks for that info, you helped me out. My symptoms were no matter which way I signaled, only the right blinker would blink. Adjusting the steering column made it work fine. I'll take it apart later since it's so easy, just to see what the innards look like, and see if IO have a pinched wire.

Thanks!
Jim
