Scoop Install thread
Thats looks sweet! Im glad your making it fuctional. Not to many people make it real. On my hood I installed this scoops. I made the Fuctional. I cut and placed a grill at the scoop opening and the hood at the back of the scoop and there is a brace that I just pulled back. I put it like this so it will feed the Throttle body with clean air and when it rains the water will just drip down the brace away from the air cleaner. It works great!! I wanted to make it a direct connection with the air cleaner but I was worried about the rain. And I figured that the RAM AIR affect is not going to be that strong because if you drive down the freeway at 75 or what ever and you stick you hand on top of the wishshild or and part of the body there is a 1 in or so cushion of air that is not doing much. So I figure is good to give the engine cold air!! Its cool when you hit a puddle of water you can see the steam come through the scoops like a dragons nostrils or something!!

ITS FINALLY DONE!
I went and got the proper bolts this morning, and finished bolting it down. In street trim, it runs very nicely, I do notice a slight diffrence on the highway; but in race trim....its a big diffrence. With the tray that seals to the hood, my shortened belt, and my traction shackles, it feels like a whole diffrent animal. Im pritty confident on a good solid 14 run. 14.7s are my hope, and I think I may get that. Pictures in a bit.
I do have to take it off and make a few more cuts before its where I want it exactly, but for most purposes, its complete. YAY!

i noticed that you have your heat sheild off, can you do that without effecting the paint on the hood ?, the reason i ask is because im thinking of doing something like this but 2 scoops and they will cool the filter and the entire engine bay, thanks looks great so far

Im actually thinking of getting another one and cutting out the hole in that and putting that back up.
As far as structural damage, I havent noticed any issues as of yet, and I wouldnt assume there would be any. After all, I did pritty much brace it by bolting the scoop to the hood.

I would recomend puttting it back on. When I took mine off earlier this summer I noticed that the decay of the paint was accelerated on the hood. So if there are any underlying issues with paint on your truck, it may become noticable sooner rather than later.
