also, im concerned about usin pvc glue on the pipes... will someone settle my fear of igniting vapors or does this dissappear when its dry?

 

guess what im a contractor, which means im a plumber and we use pvc cement all the time and its really only flammable when it wet, not to mention the smell [:'(]. just make sure the fittings have dried totally.

 

its done offically. and a new 180 degree thermostat. took me all day because of the damn alternator. I got some pics as well. i like the way it looks. DEFINATE increase in throttle responce, accelleration, and horsepower.

I found the air hat at the junkyard, it came off a caddy. It worked perfectly.

MUCH better than the holley air cleaner i had on there. I acctually belive it was hurting my engine. metal on metal = extreme heat= hot *** air filter= hot *** air= sluggish engine.

Also with installing the thermostat, i waited about 2 hours before i filled the coolant back up. Should i have waited longer? It started overheating and i realized i forgot to "burp" the system. After comin home and lettin some of the steam out of the radiator, it finally sucked coolant down. But its still runnin between 95 and 125. (my truck runs from 55 - 95 - 125 at red. i dunno if yalls is the same) but its right in the middle of 95 and 125. what do yall think is causin this? could it be that the gasket seal didnt sit long enough and its leakin fluid?

Might be better to use 45*'s and swoop down over top the compressor lines or between them. Your exhaust manifold is going to melt that pvc all to ****e. Not to mention, you are defeating the purpose by having the piping that close to the manifold. I'm not trying to rag on your effort, just trying to lend some friendly advice.

BTW you are missing the clip from your low side compressor line. Wrong time of year for that thing to come apart.

 

no no problem, i need the input! the pvc is coated with 1000 degree paint, i dunno if this will make a difference in protecting the pvc or not.

alot of things are missin on this truck, had a rebuilt put in it before i bought it. could you tell me what those clips do and why its bad they are missing?

 

The paint will probably just stick real good to the melted pvc.

The clip isactually a secondary device to keep the lines from blowing apart. The first thing that holds the line together is a spring inside of the black disc. The clips are cheap. I had to buy one after I put in the first cam on my truck. During the process, that clip failed, the line blew apart, the 134a blasted outand scared the f out of me. I was so pissed off that I beat that clip beyond recognition with a hammer.

 

The Ram air conditioner system seems to put out 40-45 degree F air
and seems to consume between 7 and 10 horsepower.

Someone wanting to build a 'homemade' air intake that would be worth the effort, ought to study the last of the Ford Lightnings where the AC was used to cool the intake air....then come up with a similar system for their Ram.
