installed new 180 thermo... question
after installing the thermostat, i waited about 2 hours before i filled the coolant back up. Should i have waited longer? It started overheating and i realized i forgot to "burp" the system. After comin home and lettin some of the steam out of the radiator, it finally sucked coolant down. But its still runnin between 95 and 125. (my truck runs from 55 - 95 - 125 at red. i dunno if yalls is the same) but its right in the middle of 95 and 125. what do yall think is causin this? could it be that the gasket seal didnt sit long enough and its leakin fluid?
When i put in my plenum, i put in a new thermostat (i think it was the 180, i know i wanted it to run cooler). It only sat as long as it took me to do the job. The thermo i bought was a fail safe one. Maybe you just have a badone. To be safe i boiled some water and dropped the new one in to see if it opened when it was supposed to. My truck runs well below 90 now. Rarely gets into the 80's.
Take the cap off. run the truck and add coolant as needed. Leave the cap off until it is at normal operating temp.Monitor the level and temp. Add coolant as needed.
