running rich...
Hello all..I have a 94 Ram with the 5.9. I have installed a 5.9 from a 96 Ram.When I start the engine. I get black smoke like its running rich. Also running rough. Is there something I have missed on this swap? Do I need to transfer the EGR over to the 96 engine even though it doesn't have one? Any help would be much appreciated.ThanksTory

RE: running rich...
How much of it did you swap. 94 is obd1 and 96 is obd2, but it shouldn't matter if you reused all of your old peripherals, i.e injectors, map sensor, o2 sensor. If you used the tb off the 96, then you need to swap the map sensor. If you are using the intakemanifold from the 96, you may need to swap the iat and ect sensors. 94 used 39 psi fuel pressure with 24.5 lb/hr. injectors, while 96 used 49 psi with 23.2 injectors so if you are using the injectors off of the 96, then you need to put the ones off the 94 back in there.
Just a few ideas.

It is the 96 Distributor, This a problem? Fuel sync has not been set...... nor do I know how. ha ha. I guess I would need a scan tool for that.I am currently charging the battery. Soon I can give er another shot with the sensors changed out and see whats up....
