Default Dash...sorry I have to ask

I just noticed my first crack in my dash today. It's right up front near the windshield inbetween two of the vents. It's not too bad, but can I expect this to get worse?

It seems from what I've read that once it's done cracking, it's done. True or not?

I'm hoping it is so I can be lucky and not really worry about it...

If it's started to crack, the vibrations from driving, potholes, etc. will cause it to crack worse.

When I was in band we used to have problems with drum cymbals, when the cymbals start to crack you can drill a hole at the end of the crack and it will keep the crack from spreading. I don't know if this would work with the plastic dash or not, the plastic might be too brittle. If you wanted to try it, I'd use the smallest drill bit I couldmake workand be darn careful about applying any pressure as you drill.

I don't know my dash has like 3 cracks in it. A lot of people I know with 2nd Gen have cracked dashes.

Yeah my dash started with a few small cracks a year ago. Now I've got a hole in it over on the passenger's side I could drop a softball through.

The dash cracks due to sun/heat damage to the plastic. It's not a good quality plastic.

The crack indicates the plastic is DONE. Expect much more.

Sorry to hear about it. I replace mine about 7 mos. ago. Did the factory replace - not the Coverlay. Took about 6 hrs. but well worth it in my case. There was not enough original dash left for the Coverlay to work.

It was about $150 from the local Dodge stealership, maybe less but like I said, well worth the time. I got a good look at all the stuff under the dash, cleaned out all the dirt, dust, and bugs that had accumulated from it being broken, and found $1.20 in change!

Understand too that mine was not just cracked, it had fallen apart.I could fit a small child through it!!!
