CT Offroad Spots
Hey all,
Just wondering where you guys go offroading at.....I live in Wallingford, just north of New Haven and south of Hartford. The only decent place I've found to ride at is the Portland Fairgrounds. Lets start a list here of offroading spots in CT......just got new tires, want to try 'em out

rtmorrisjr, no the Fairgrounds are not legal to ride at, but the cops never seem to enforce it. It has some nice trails and ruts, especially the day after a good rainstorm. You can tell people are back there all the time, I've seen plenty of trucks, quads, and bikes on the trails when I go down. Where are the places you go? I don't really care if it's legal or not, just tell me how well the cops enforce it

I'm in eastern CT also. From what I understand (friend is a cop), the cops out here a busy enough with "real" crimes that they aren't going to bother folks 4-wheelin' - unless somebody complains. The key is to be discreet. Don't destroy stuff, don't get really loud, don't do it late at night (after dinner is no good - most people want to wind down after dinner and they don't want to listen to trucks and loud exhaust 4-wheelin).
over here in ellington, we have shenipsit state forest which is legal to cruise around in, but if you really wants some trails give the ct jeep organization an email. they have all the legal trails you could possibly drive on. from where you live all the way up through vermont maine and then some. most of the trails are for snowmobiling but the cruise them in there rigs also
