I just changed the tranny fluid not to long ago (about 6 months) and it is due for another change
....but before that I don't think it has ever been changed.
I have check the cruise line and it is ok because the cruise works.
The check valves I can blow through so i thought they would be good...do I need to change them anyway?
Why would it not happen when I reset the PCM if it was the tranny/TC stalling?

is the idlecontrol motorthe same thing as the idle air control sensor? was it located on the back of the TB...if so I have replaced this already.

Yeah, the check valves can still be bad. They lose their ability to hold vacuum over time. Blowing/sucking is just a general test. A vacuum pump will give actual readings at which point they fail (if at all).
Good point about the reset and trans. Possible pcm re-learning???
Just throwing out ideas here. You really need to find someone locally with a scan tool and computer. I'll bet you'd be able to find the problem in minutes.
BTW, the above post mentions the idle control motor (IAC). I thought you posted that that was replaced already.

Sometimes when you replace the IAC you also have to reset the idle air counts. This is most easily accomplished with a Snap-on scanner or a DRBIII.
Here is the manual method:

I have done this and it is pretty easy. I made a plug for the idle hole in the TB. If you don't have a scanner to watch rpms in the engine compartment, you will need an assistant to sit in the cab and shout rpms to you.

yeah I was saying thatthe IAC hasalready been replaced.
I agree on the scanning tool...I think I am just going to have to break down and buy one.
I am glad you are throwing out ideas...because it is making me think of different things also....so keep them coming
I guess I need to get the check valves replaced...do I replace both of them or do I need 2?

10-4. I understood that you replaced it. What I was saying is that after you replace it, you may have to set the idle air counts. Dealerships do this by default when they replace an idle air control.
What do you mean you made a plug?
I read the manual way and it seems easy enough but I need to leave the IAC in the TB correct?

It was hard to get my thumb down there to block the iac portas the description states, so I improvised and made a plug out of a flat head screwdriver and some rubber tape. I left the iac in while doing this.
