I finally put the trans cooler in my truck, which I bought the day I bought my truck. Idk why I was so scarred about doing that, it was extreemly easy, 30 min and its in and pritty. hopefully anyone that is hesitant on doing a trans cooler will get some confidence from this.

I did this on an older truck before. You can run one of the lines into a big bucket (like the ones from Home Depot) and make sure the bucket is filled with Tranny fluid. Only thing, its a bit expensive to do, but once you purge the system you should be free from air
Your gonna need a buddy to help you. You might need to turn the truck on and off while your doing this. Also, the fluid is gonna get hot, fast, so if your gonna keep your hands in the bucket to feel when all the bubbles are gone, just remeber that this will happen.

not necessary. the transmission pump will shoot fluid all the way through it within about the first uumm, 10 seconds of operation, and the air will return to the transmission pan, and presto, its gone. in fact - its already gone.
is your routing from transmission (hot) -> external cooler - > radiator - > trans (cool) ?
is that the check valve still in the line ? did you mean to leave it in.
