Well first off, it is way too much work to just put an ebay kit in there and hope it works. Second, rebuilding it is not as easy as it sounds. Many small parts and everything must be done right or else you will be ripping it back out. If you want to do it as cheap as possible, go to autozone and I think a rebuilt tranny for these are only like $800.

Not to discourage you - but just FYI : auto trans are pretty complicated and unless you have a pretty good size bench to work on , it will be hard. Once you get it aprt , you will need a lot of space for all of the parts. And you will want to have room to lay them out in order to help with re-assembly. I rebuilt transmissions at Toyota and Mitsubishi dealerships for over 20 years and at the beginning I took my lumps while learning. Once you have done 100 or so - it's not too bad. That being said : it is possible with a very good manual with good illustrations but you will have to follow the directions to the letter. But - if this your first time : be prepared to having to take it back out 2 or 3 times before getting it right. I have done some Chrysler FWD transmissions while working at Mitsubishi and they were fairly simple compared to a Toyota or a Mitsubishi trans and have also done a couple of Ford RWD and they were also fairly simple compared to Toyo or Mitsu RWD.

there is a link on the bottom of the page to save a copy or download it... it's about 12 meg so it's not that bad.
as far as doing it yourself, I'd say go for it... if you have access to a pick-n-pull wrecking yard you can find one there for about $75 bux, that is worth it to tear down and learn how to put it back together. add the manual into the mix and you should be in pretty good shape. the only thing is if you'd need any special tools. read the book & find out...

First off, thank you for that manual.
Second, I think my roomate and I could do it, I mean I have the time to do it, no rush really.
Third whats there difference between the 46rh and the 46re tranny and which do i have ( 97 sport with a 360 magnum)
And 4th, Could it be possible my TQ is done and my tranny isn't ( truck stalls in all gears, park, nuetral, drive and reverse when warmed up)

When the truck gets up to temp, is usually when it happens. When it does happen, the check engine light comes on from the stumbling, but goes off when i turn on and off the truck. I will try to get it pulled on monday, because hopefully that can point me in the right direction.
However, how could those things effect the tranny and make it seem like its going to slip? I never saw the tranny oil temp light, i do think i have one. But when driving, if i let it cool down it would allow me to drive further, with the help of cooling down and lucas stop slip too.
