Spray on (like Rhino) beats a "drop in" hands down. The drop in can trap water and rub against the metal.....then guess what happens?
I've done that too, ( in a box w/ a drop in and bare OUCH [:@] )
What does it take to prep the box before you apply the Rhino ??
( I'm sure it says on the prouduct but, I'm just wondering what amount of work you had to do before hand)

Sorry, but the Dealer had it done to seal the deal for me. What was nice though was the fact that they gave me a patch kit. I have scraped the liner a lot cause I mow about 6 or 7 lawns a week.
I did a Hurculiner on the bed of my 98. Took a little over a day to do it.
Stay away from the drop in liners. Like others have mentioned, they trap water and dirt between it and the bed, and will end up damaging your bed. The best would be going with one of the spray in liners, such as Rhino or Line-X. The Rhino seems to be a bit better than the Line-X, and run about $450 to have done (around here anyway).
If you want to do a roll in liner yourself, go with Hurculiner. It's the best DIY roll-in available. Although, it won't go in as thick as a spray in liner, it will hold up very well (I've managed to put one small scratch in mine, and I'm constantly throwing steel tool boxes and all sorts of other crap in there). The Hurculiner retails for around $90.

I use to have a plastic one but I sold it so right now I am trying to get those do it yourself liquid roll on bed liner. Lot cheaper than a rhino liner.

I put a Line-X liner in mine. Took a couple of hours. Dropped it off at 8:00 AM and had it back before noon. I love it. Good traction when in the bed, too. I'd strongly recommend it. I paid about $450 for the liner in the bed and on top of the bedrails. Very happy. I have a drop-in if you want it

Spray ins are definitely worth it. The only reason you would want to stay away from one is if you are looking for your stuff to slide in and out when loading stuff in the back. It was designed to decrease sliding when driving but that also applies 24/7 as well. Not only do the spray in liners look great, they perform great and I think you will be satisfied. PLEASE, have it done by a licensed company and don't try the do-it-yourself crap you can buy at stores like Wal-Mart. I have seen that done and it looks like they spray just a flat-black paint all over there truck! It was horrible!
