Default Fastman TB?

Hey guys, this may be a [sm=deadhorse.gif]but I haven't been around for long, so bear with me. I just got my Magnaflow installed, but I still think my Ram is a bit sluggish. I just think that a 5.9L V8 should have more ***** than it does. I want to know if the Fastman TB is worth the money and a worthwhile mod. I drove a buddy's '05 Chevy today, and the throttle response blew me away. Something's definitely up with the Ram. Are these trucks just sluggish from the factory? Mine's a '01 1500 Quad 4x4.

I bet you have the Death Flash.
I had it and got an used Hypertech to bring it back to life (override the deth flash), then one day I'll get a real flash, but this was a quick fix till I get around to putting on the Fastman and other mods, then I'll get the real B&G flash.

Well, I don't think I have the "death flash," but I just think it should be a bit more peppy. Don't get me wrong, it don't just sit there when I press the gas, but it don't launch like a drag car, either. Maybe the fact that the truck weighs 6,600 lbs has something to do with it, and I just need to realize that it isn't a 2,000 lb sports car. Maybe I'm just over-reacting a bit...but I would still like to try the TB upgrade at some point. Thanks, guys...

Hi Ram2k1

I have read a lot of great things on this forum and one of them was the throttle body and I would have to say that a lot of guys on here told me to go with the fastman, I did my researce and ended up with the fastman and glad I did, my 98 ram is all stock for now but I have notice the improvement, I will be doing
more mods in the future. In my opinion go with the fastman, if you have question just email Dan he will
answer any question you have.

I'll bet you probably do have the Death Flash, as I think all the 2000-01's came with it from the factory. I know I still have it on mine. Check your PCM on the passengerside firewallunder the hood for a bar code sticker that says "factory authorized reprogram" or "factory authorized flash" and that's it.

Anyway, I have a Fastman TB and it's great! After installing it and reseting the PCM I felt likeI was driving a car again, step on thegasand WHAM, she'd jump! Had to get used to light pressure on the pedal again. I suggestupgrading you air hat to a round one or CAI to get full benefit. A round setup will only cost you like 40 bucks, and some claim it's just as good or better than a CAI,though I can't verify as I've never run a CAI.

The Death Flashed PCM in mytruck has pulled the fun back down a bit, but I'll get that fixedat the end of the month hopefully.

Ram2K1, I'll almost bet that you were driving a light little sporty car before your bought the ram. ???. I mean when I went from my 2800 somthing pound 5 spd Daytona to the monsterous automatic Ram it felt pretty sluggish to me. Then I learned how to drive it and added some mods...now its rips
