Now that Ive got the mechanical aspect finished for now, I need to replace the 3 blown speakers.. Does anyone know how to fill in the factory grooves in the vinyl grills 'cause I'd love to cut the fins out and use the aftermarket grills instead...I'm thinking Bondo or something but don't know how to texture it....Also the salesman tried to push Memphis brand speakers, what do y'all think (he probably got commission on the memphis...)

I've modified the back speakers to be 6.5". When I put the grills up to the installed speakers, the styled fins fill in and become an undulated surface that goes on past the grills and form a semi-circle. I want to fill in the wavy part, then cut out the holes(where the sound comes from). The rear speakers are the only concern; the front grills should cover theundulated surfacein the front.

If not for the semi-circle, yes. Its just the extended cab, 2-door model. The semi circle hugs the built-in armrest for the rear passengers. The main problem is the speakers are deeper, so I fabbed an adapter to shim them out approx. 1" to make room. Now the speaker movement interferes with the vinyl and buzzes...very annoying. So I want to cut the holes out and clamp the vinyl between the speaker and grill, but want a professional looking job.

When you removed the front speaker was a black box attached to it with a bunch of wires? I took a look at mine and saw the regular positive/negative connections plus those other wires attached to a black box. Is that needed? i wanted to replace them with some regular kenwood 6x9's but now im not sure lol

I didn't remove the front speakers, but from what I know the factory head units were insanely weak. If you have an aftermarket head unit above, say, 15W per speaker or more, I'd cut the amps out and dead-head the power supply and wire the supply directly to the head unit. In addition to my previous post, the corners extend too far to cover with a grill....
