Its not in your head.....flowmasters do have a wierd kind of packing inside of them......trust me, if you want your flowmaster to even have a great rumble you have to "wash it out" this is acheived by using a garden hose with pretty good pressure and washing the muffler out through your duel out tailpipes.....By the 6th time its louder, try it for yourself, i know you dont believe me so video record each time you do it...
Ok then i want to go louder.. My buddy had a 90 something ford f 150 with the 5.0 and he had true duals with 2 original flowmasters and it sounded nice. So is it possible to have true dual exhaust with 2 super 44 flowmasters?? how will it sound??
i mean its not that loud too me and i think its going to take a lot more than washing it out.. its just a regular flow 40 3' inlet 2.5' outlets no tips.. it really sounds kind of dull. maybe if i put some tips on it? or dump it?
No, true duals let more air out and arent always louder because they flow better. Have you invested in a nice hi-flo cat? If not, get the magnaflow hi-flo cat, and get a couple nice stainless steel exhaust tips. The orginal 40 series is still actually rated "louder" than the Flowmaster Super 44...The Super 44 just flows better and has a much more modern tone. You should sitll be getting a nice bark. You also have a 5.2L engine so I dont know if it will get as loud as some of the other 5.9L dodges, but it should still bark pretty damn good. Run a 3" single inlet/outlet catalytyic converter though.
so i should get a hi-flo catalytic converter 3' inlet 3' outlet. could i have a mufflershop do this for me?? i know we dont have emmissions so i dont think it would be illegal. any other additional info would be great thanks guys.
tips do change the tone on it trust me if you have a 2.5" pipe run 3 1/2" tip i mite go back to dual out on my truck cause i had a damn good sound to it .. let me look for that clip..
