Oh happy muffler day
Last night while I was visiting my parents the Fed-X driver left me a package next to my apartment door. So when I returned home there she was, the box containing my new Flowmaster Super 44 muffler. So I called the shop and set up an appointment for monday ( was the earliest I could get in ). Yay ! No more running around with turn-downs clamped on to the end of my old Flowmaster ( I hacked off the rest of the exhaust last week.). Boy I cant wait. I'll have to barrow someone's digital camera and make a sound file once it's installed.
You are going to really enjoy the sound of the SUPER 44, she really barks and gurgles, it's awesome. If you can, get some nice long exhaust tips, it really maximizes an exhaust systems to its fullest potential, can't wait to hear how she looks and sound brotha.

i thought tips were for looks. How long of tips and what size could i go on my truck with 2.5' outlets? i have the original 40 series and i was wondering why it wasnt so loud. i also jut got it put on not to long ago so maybe it needs more time.
Well firstly, just to clarify brotha, Flowmaster mufflers don't get progressively louder over time because their interior is made up of sheet metal, there isn't any packing inside the muffler to ever break in. But anyways, tips aren't going to make an exhaust system LOUDER persay, but they do change the tone of an exhaust system. As I like to put it, there the "tongue roll" of an exhaust system. I currently run 22" long, 4" diameter magnaflow tips. They really echo the exhaust and give it a great sound, but most people run 3" diameter tips that are 15-18" long. My piping is 2 1/2" as well, but they make tons of sizes for that piping size. I personally love the look of big giant stianless steel slash cut tips (don't take that the wrong way haha!), but some like a little more moddest size tips. They also look great, and let people know that you put work into making that great sound! Go to summitracing.com and write in "exhaust tips". From there, you can click your inlet size of the tip and then how long and big of a diameter you want for the tip, and what brand. Magnaflow hands down makes the best tips though.
maybe its just me but i used to have a flowmaster40 series for about a month and a half before i got my super 44, and i swear that thing got louder by the time i took it off, haveent had my super 44long enough yet to see if the same thing happens
