Okay guys i was just spamming in my town at dealerships for cars. As you probably know i considered the evo or the subaru... But today it narrowed down. I CANT LEAVE DODGE. I test drove a new 2007 dodge charger srt8! That is my dream car for college. talk about looks, style, and wait... the horsepower. I couldnt believe it was that fast!!!! Wow why didnt you all recommend one?!! Agh so what do you think? is it a good car to get?

Dude, I just wish I had your budget for a new car. I love the SRT-8's. I think it would be a great car to have. You won't get the mpg's you would with the other two, but you'd have the huge hemi to burn rubber with. I think it's a great choice(but I will be jealous).

well im currently working two jobs.i get out of high school at 2pm and work from 2:30 to 6:00 pm at Mattress Warehouse and 6:00pm to 9m (on weekdays) at walmart. Sat. I work at the furniture store 10 am to 6pm and sundays at wal mart 12 pm to 7 pm... My hourly rate at the Mattress Store is $10.50 + commisionan hour and Walmart just started me for $7.00 an hour... so im really trying to get a $10,000 down payment saved up to cut the payments close or under $300 a month... Hard work = good things i hear!

I know what you mean. I'm in college right now and have an internship that I get to work 20 hours a week at and I've had a job since I was old enough to. Good luck with it all and I hope you get the SRT. I actually plan on possibly getting one some day, but since I've only had my Ram for a few months I plan on just saving up my money for it for now to spend on wheels and some sort of bedcover and other cool things. You know, all the good stuff that makes having a cool vehicle fun.

i like the idea, but let me add my 2 cents to the convo here. I was in the same boat last year. Im in college now, and had a decent ammout of money to play with. Now I could have decided to put that on a downpayment on a cool car yea, but I opted to get an old beater truck that looked like it could be fun, and versitile, that i could pay off instantly. College is hard enough without a job, you dont want to be forced to have a job and possibly sacrifice your grades or free time on having to work to pay for your car that someone just backed into on campus parking. I want to even get a crappier car for when I go away to a 4 year school. im thinkin a $1k like 85 volvo wagon. Fuel economy will be your friend when you want to come home on the weekend, or see your girl or something. Just wait a little longer for you kick *** car. 4 or 5 years isnt too long in the future if you think about it. Then you can get a "real job" that allows you disposable income so you can get a car without worries. (no offence to anyone about the "real job" thing. Iv done those kind of jobs, but I dont feel thats where I want to be)

I agree. That's why I drive my '86 T-bird to and from school and work during the week. It was cheap, has a fun V8, and gets between 25-30mpg. I've had it for more than 3 years and hopefully it'll last another 1 or 2. I just recently saved up enough to get my truck and there is no way that I could afford a high car payment right now. But if you really feel like working a lot to have an awesome car, that's somethin' you have to decide.

i gotta agree with these guys. im sure anybody would kill to have an SRT i know i would. but college is tough to pay for by itself. more power to you if you can do that and make car paymets! at least your daddy isnt buying it for you. if you think you can do it though go for it. but those of us in college can tell ya working and going to school is not as it sounds. im learning that the hardway.... i wish i had kept my summer job longer.

and as for the choice of car. you couldnt do better! dont settle for a rice burner they maybe fast but nothin beats the way a muscle car makes you feel!

I agree with the above comments...save your money while you're in college. I am in college also, i get out of class at about 12 everyday, and work 1pm-8pm, sometimes a little longer, sometimes a little shorter depending how busy it is. I work day and nights sometimes on the weekends. I do towing and make pretty good money. I have a good amount of money to play with also, but i would like to buy a car that i can just pay off right away, and get a car i can have fun with, and not worry about beating on it. I was thinking of buying an older car, like a fox body mustang or camaro, or even an old chevy c10 or something and mod it, and just drive it like a bat out of hell.

Well I thought I would throw in my 2 cents. I am the guy who has been in school for the past 5 yrs. Luckly I grad in two semesters. If I could do it all over again I would definitely go with something cheap that I could pay off quick. I am not knocking your work ethic but just b/c you can make the payments now does not mean it will be be easy to do so in a year or two. The farther you get into school the harder it is to keep up the working crazy hours. I went from working over 60hrs a week to 24. Unless you have some good savings accounts set up think about making a large payment when you are pulling 8 to 9 hundred a month. Its ruff and sucks at times but when its all over you can always go get what you want.
