oh yeah forgot to say that make sure you have your exhaust removed as close to the back of the cat as possible so you dont clog ur muffler - cut it and re-weld after ur done
i didnt get this last part... when i cut the pipe im cutting between the muffler and cat. then i stick the pipe in the muffler and smash everything. start the engine and let it run (while its not connected to the muffler). smash again, run again, smash again, run again. next step is to connect the pipes again but i wasnt going to weld(being that i dont know how) i was going to get a pipe connector. actually the reason i was gonna do that was because i wanted later to get the gibson super truck exhuast and it also has a pipe connector(no welding). is that ok?
dont make the same mistake i did with my supertruck.

you need to heat up the muffler and pull it off.. i took a sawzall to mine and now i am 1 in. short.. haha now i ahve to weld on a little piece of metal to make it fit again >.<

I would like true duals but don't know how to do this having only two o2 sensors. What I want to do at this time is get headers, run them to a single 3.5" pipe, through an oversized cat, then split to dual mufflers. Does this make sense?

connectors are OK
not guaranteed to be 100% leak proof but usually as long as you install them correctly and tight you shouldn't have a problem
use new clamps

isnt there a clamp at the intermediate pipe on ur truck?

btwn cat + muffler?

you can try and loosen that and wiggle it out instead of cutting.

i have only gotten one to slip out once, always end up having to cut them and re-weld them.

Go ahead and just get someone to do true duals for you and you won't have to worry about the cat. Unless things are too strict where you are, then you should go with all of the other good suggestions here.

ehh

u sure you cant work with it?
PB blast that mo fo!

if you cant do it, then i guess your stuck with CuTTiNg it

i usually get so pissed at them at work and i end up cutting them anyways and re-welding

ummm......
maybe you could cut it out at home - + do your business.. lol, and remove you tailpipe assy, or even just hang it up with a strap or something to just get it down the street and take it to a muffler shop and get them to close it up...
-----
or you can TRY a connector and hopefully it seals up...
use the connector, clamps, and maybe even some JB weld, muffler sealer, or something to close it up airtight - no leaks!

... or just get a whole high-flow cats + true duals installed or something like baretta says
u live in California... strict
