Default Bleeding fuel line

Ok, a quick question. I have to pull my injectors out, and need to bleed the fuel. Last time I did it, I had to wrap a towel around the line. I tried pulling my fuel system relay, but it ran for about half an hour, and the fuel pressusre was still @ op temp. Back to the question, if anyone has done it by pulling the relay, how long before your fuel line was empty? Thanks.

when I pulled my fuel pump relay, there was no power to the pump, motor would die instantly...

edit: you might look for a fuel pump fuse... there should be something to cut power to the pump.

I think you pulled the wrong relay. Usually it should stall the engine in a few seconds. Does your truck have a fuel test port on the rail (It was stupid Dodge removed it on some years)? You could bleed the pressure off there.

if the relay is yanked, check the other side for power out to the pump, you may have a short. when you kick on the ignition do you hear the pump turn on, then off? (with the relay in)

do a compression test on it and see how it's doing. chances are you have cracked heads which is common. the mag heads crack between the valve seats. Hughes engines offers a HD head casting to replace them... fairly cheep (in comparison) at about $275 ea bare...

Did you put the injectors back in the same cylinder? If not try swapping #5 to a different cylinder and see if the miss moves to that cylinder. #5 plugged on mine but I was able to flush out the inlet screen with some carb cleaner. I just blasted it down the fuel inlet and all the rusty crud came out. It's been over a year and all is still good
