Quick Flowmaster Question
I was just wondering whether the inlets and outlets of a flowmaster go over or inside of the current exhaust pipes when you are clamping them on? The pictures look like the inlets and outlets are shaped but I can't tell whether they are a littler smaller to fit inside of the pipes, or a little bigger to go around the pipes.
Losing the glasspacks already? You just got them didn't you. If you don't like the way they sound you should know they take little bit to break in, so you might want to run em for awhile. They'll sound better with age. And the original flowmaster 40s sound the best out of the whole collection. Flowmaster 10s if you want loud. Good luck with your project. How are you putting in the x-pipe? Cutting and welding? or did you find an x pipe with t ends on it?
Yeah, I like the sound of the glasspacks, but I think it is a better sound for an older vehicle. I think this truck needs the nice, deep flowmaster tone. Should sound pretty good too with true duals, into an x-pipe, into 2flowmasters, and out 3.5" tips. I'm going to be working on it over the next couple of weeks so I'm sure I'll have some more questions. As far as the x-pipe goes, I am just cutting some pipe out and putting one in, hopefully with clamps and some sort of cold weld.
It's funny how different people are.
I had glasspacks and put in a Flowmaster 40 because I heard how great they sounded and my exhaust was a bit rusty and needing replaced anyway. So the Flowmaster is relatively inexspensive and I went for it.
Now that I have the Flowmaster, I would love to go back to the glasspacks!
The Flowmaster just sounds too NASCAR-ish for me. I preferred the muffled deep sound of the glasspacks vs. the loud aggressive sound of the Flowmaster. It will eventually get changed out again on my truck, but I can honestly say I won't own a Flowmaster again.........too "teenager" for my tatse anymore. I just wanted a low rumble at start up and a mild sound on acceleration, but the Flowmaster is way overboard IMHO.

I am so convinced that the SUPER 44, imo, is the best sounding muffler Flowmaster provides. I knew I was sold when they first came out, it offers the same loudness of the org. 40 series, yet is a lot different sounding. People around town know its my truck because it just sounds different from all the other chevys, fords, and dodges running the generic 40 series, its just nice to say when someone asks you, "DUDE, what are you running to make that noise?!" And then I get to reply,"flowmaster Super 44." It's something different, in a good way. Anyway, blkbaretta, I agree, glasspacks are for older vehicles, my bro runs dynomax bullets with his true dual (which are basically glasspacks) on his f-350 and it fits his truck perfect, it's a 95 and its big and black and it just sounds ****ing grungy and badass lol. but it was the first thing i thought when you showed me your video, I thought to myself "wow, really nice bright looking new truck with a trashy sounding exhaust". The nascar-ish sound to me, is mint ! Even if you do go with the org. 40 series, you'll stll be happy, but i think TWO super 44's is going to be wicked badass, and will restore your trucks pride !
