EGR Solenoid CEL
#11
RE: EGR Solenoid CEL... another ?
The EGR 'solenoid' is probably the thing the FSM calls the
"EGR Modulating Valve"
which is a plastic thing that is attached to the EGR valve itself
with two rubber hoses
and has an electrical plug.
EGR Valve and Modulating Valve were sold be the dealership for $139 a few years ago and were in one box, not available separately.
Space is tight at the rear of the engine to install these parts.
Got a child with small hands and fingers who wants to learn?
In addition to putting the new stuff on
you have to clean the carbon out of the steel pipe going up to them from the exhaust manifold,
and also make sure the carbon deposits have not plugged the intake manifold's internal twin passages that end just below where the throttle body mounts.
