what will cause surging
since i bought my truck it has surged at a slow roll. basically if you let the truck idle and its on a flat surface and it starts to roll it will kind of buck you can physically feel the truck bucking. i brought it back to the tranny guy assuming it was my tranny but he says its not the tranny he says it emissions related he says maybe a map sensor or whatever. so now im on the hunt for what is causing this. i have no check engine lights on and no codes. any ideas oh its a 02 ram 2500 quadcab 4x4 360. 60k mi
TPSsensor or the IAC motor. IAC is on the back of the Throttle body and you can take it off with a #25 torx wrench and try to clean it and the TB with somecarb cleaner or brake parts cleaner. (take the TB offthe intake manifold first)
The TPS sensor is on the driver side of the TB and you can test for proper voltage with a digital multitester (at auto store or radioshack for like $20).Poke the red probe into the center wireand the black probe to a ground point on the engine bay and test voltage, you should be around .75V. If not, replace it or attempt to mod it (search the forum for TPS mod).

when the dealer found out my heads were cracked they replaced them and also did a complete tune up i havent checked the plugs but im sure they used cheap parts. i think there all car quest products.and the dealer supposedly also replace the only clogged injector. how do i check this. also do these trucks have a fuel filter i cant find one anywhere.
has anyone installed one. ive never heard of a vehicle not having a fuel filter

Its part of the entire sending unit assembly and as such is replaced as a whole. Supposedly it is a "lifetime" filter (as DC calls it). Personally I don't like the setup, but on the other hand have not had a problem with one either.
im going to install one a little extra protection i guess. but ive got to figure out this surging its driving me nuts. i did the tps mod over the weekend and it mad a big difference in my truck the throttle responce is soo precise to pedal movement and when i got on the highway the truck felt very firm throttle wise. im slowly getting my truck were i want it im starting to work out all the bugs that have been kicking my *** since i bought the truck but i think if i kill this surging it also will make a big difference in my truck. i cam across an accel ignition coil i figure when i switch to the autolites and the accels wires i will change the coil i figure it cant hurt. anyone used one http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductD...90&PTSet=A
Most guys here that replace their coils go with the MSD blaster 2 or 3 coil. They generally upgrade the ignition to a MSD 6A box and MSD superconductor 8.5mm wires as well.
I can't comment on the 6A box or the coil, but I installed the wires last week and it really smoothed out the engine, esp. at cold start.
