Quiz time. Is this an open differential, or does it have the factory lsd in it?

Answer: It has to be open because if it was a tru-loc you would have a bunch of retainer clips laying on the magnet at the bottom....

+1 on PORC. by the way, they've moved from athens, ga to cummng, ga. same guys. same best price.

why not look into an e-locker... push a button and lock the rear when you need it. Eaton I think makes them as well as a few other manufactures

I didn't know they made an E locker forthe 9.25.For me it didn't really matter as the 2wd isn't going to be seeing much off roading at all, but that'd be great for the rear end of a 4wd.

You guys are right... as usual. I hate getting fed false info like that. That was gonna cost ridiculous amout. Right now I can get both the front and the backtruetrac for ... around $850 to my door. Not so bad after all. Infact the Powertrax that I was looking at was the no-slip and would cost $500 ea. so already im getting what I want. My roommate up here at college is gonna give me a hand with install, infact I've tossed it around so much that he is going to put one in his monte carlo when he gets done his new motor swap. Were gonna do em together.

you can get the noslip from PORC for $390.
http://www.performanceoffroadcenter.com
search on mfg=lockrite, its part number= LOC920392310

unless your doing some really really nasty killer mudding, i think putting one in the rear only, along with some good mud tires will take you whereever you want to go and back.
the rear install is pretty easy.
beware, the front is a lot of work.. http://www.pavementsucks.com/tech/lockright.php

To date, there are no selectable lockers for the rear Chrysler 9.25.

In fact there is only one automatic full case locker at all and that is the Detroit (outside of a spool). The choices with the 9.25 are very limited which always drove me nuts when I had my 1/2 ton axles because I always thought with so many out there, the aftermarket manufacturers were missing the boat by not making a 9.25 application.

Now I have Dana 60's and ARB's front and rear and couldn't be happier!

Well I just got off the phone with eaton. They told me that the rear would be no problem. The front dana 44 is held in differently??? aparently and he said that I would have to use a spring "to retain the axles" or something because c-clips dont work with theirs or something. I am not going with powertrax. So from this point I am definatly getting the rear. But has anyone put one of these in a front dana 44?

why dont you look at an ox locker, cable accuated. all you have to do to lock the diff is pull the cable, got one in both front and back of my jeep, awesome offroad performance. and then when you want to get back on the highway, just get on dry area, then push the cable and your good to go on the road with an open diff.

Mainly because its $370 vs. $800 + If i can find someone that installed a truetrac in there dana 44, im all set. I just dont know what spring he is talking about. I just looked in the shop manual and saw nothign about c clips or c locks (what they call it on the 9 1/4 i guess) ... so maybe he just thought of the wrong application. LOL why do i always get the wrong info??? lol

ok so wtf... I looked on this website, and I DO NOT HAVE C-CLIPS... WTF WAS THAT GUY TALKING ABOUT???.

Turns out... the only dana 44's with c-clips are

Corvette:1986 - 1996(Rear)

Grand Cherokee:1996 - 2001(Rear)

Rodeo:1998 - 2004(Rear)

Viper:1992 - 2006(Rear)

ZJ:1996 - 1999(Rear)

according to ringpinion.com

Mine is listed under the regular dana 44, not the dana 44 HD. so I am set. Idk what that guy was talking about so thanks everyone for your help. Now I just have to save up to buy them. This thread has served its purpose. thanks!

The rear is a c-clip. Not sure what they are talking about for the front. I have an Auburn posi in the rear http://www.auburngear.com/aftermarket/products/differentials/
and an Ox up front http://www.ox-usa.com/
