Default Engine Check and very rough engine

Well, my problems continue.

Recently diagnosed my plenum gasket as leaking but have not yet fixed it, replaced the cat converter, installed a magnaflow muffler, removed and cleaned the TB and solenoid.Did the TPS mod. All new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, ect about 600 miles ago.

The other day I went to work and all was fine, but when I went to leave the truck was running VERY rough, enough to shake the truck, it quickly calmed downand it completelywent away within 5 minutes of driving. Got up the following day and it ran fine in the morning, and again did the same thing on the way home but the check engine light came on this time. Got up today and it ran rough in the morning and the check engine light was still on. I have not had time to look at anything yet, but plan on doing so this weekend, I would love some suggestions as to what I should look at.

I tried to search, but it appears to not be working, even searched for just "engine" and it came back with no matches. ???

Thanks everyone

Have you retrieved the code from the PCM yet since it has now thrown a code? If so, what code(s) did you get?

Take your truck to a local Autozone, O'Reilly Auto Parts, and the like. They will pull your codes for free. All you are doing right now is throwing money at the problem and not even coming close. You have to diagnose it properly.

This symptom JUST started, and there previously was no code.

All the other stuff that I have done was an attempt to get the truck to tow correctly, as its been severely underpowered. The power issue was determined to be a leaking plenum in another post, but I guess its possible its been this issue that hasnt really manifested itself until now.

Thanks though, I will head over to Autozone ASAP.

Will Kragen do this too?

Where does the reader plug into?

If you turn the key to the on position where the dash lights come on, but not as far as to start the engine, then off again 3 times in a row, but on the 3rd time leave it in the on position. The check engine light will begin to flash after a couple of seconds. keep track of the number of flashes for each code. after all codes have been displayed, it will flash 5 times in a row then it will stay on constantly. You can repeat the process again as much as you need to to get the codes.

On mine it will show the code on the odometer it was have a P then a code number or say done which means none. My Ram does this at times too and I have replaced the IAC and TPS the surging idea went away but it still does this once in a while after it sits. Last night the CEL flashed for a min then went off. I checked for codes using the on off method and it showed none. It used to come on for a cyl 4 misfire I'm wondering if thats starting to act up again. Still have no idea what would cause that either

I bet your cat is plugged. Go to a muffler shop and have it pressure tested.
