Default Lift, tires, axels, and gears

Sorry about the confusing poll. I'm trying to figure out what I want to do. I want to make this thing big, but I want to do it within reason because I would like to keep it as a daily driver. No point in having a big truck I can't aford to drive anymore. It's not so much the cost put into the lift that bothers me, but I would like to hear what those of you with 6" total lift and 35s are getting vs. you guys with 8" total lift and 37 inch tires. Actually all you guys with big lifts. If it's the difference between 10 and 11mpg I'll take the 8" but if it's like 7 and 11 I'll take the 6. Get what I'm trying to figure out here?

Figured the poll would help me figure out what I should do. I trust you guys

Is that taking into account your speedo is probably off? Or did you have it corrected?

So am I to understand that it doesn't really matter how big of tires or how high I lift this truck, as long as I re-gear to compensate I should still get about 12mpg?

I don't know..I have 35/12.5 tires with 4.10 gearing, and I am getting 9.5-10mpg now. Then again, I was getting 12mpg for the longest time up until recently my mpg just dropped. Now I'm lucky if I can keep it at 10 flat...

Yeah but I get like 15mpg right now, I seriously doubt it's going to drop to 10 over 2 inch bigger tires, I mean when I went from 31s to 33s I didn't really lose any mileage, but I didn't re-gear either so we'll see.

I'm bent here on what to do. I see people like radwebster running 42 inch TSLs on half tons stock gearing, and nhbill running 37s on full tons with 5.13s.
I think I'm going to try to finda set of full tons with with 4.10s and hopefully a lsd in the rear end. If I end up re-gearing them later on so be it, butit seems to cost about thesame, andat the worst I canrun 35s on4.10s without it ******* out on me too bad I'm sure. As for the lift I still can't make up my mind. []

Rabbler makes a good point on misleading mileage. When I was running 35's with 3.55 gears, I took a trip with a buddy that was running stock stuff. I was getting almost exactly 10% less miles than him at each gas stop. So from then on I added 10% to the miles and then checked my mileage. It went from 9 to 12 pulling a 16' enclosed trailer with no useableoverdrive. The 10% made a big difference. As you said the truck was OK with 33's, 4.10's would have worked better. Once going to 35's it hurt a lot.
Then I added the posi and 4.56 gears and the truck is fun again. It was set up with 3" suspension and 3" body lift. Handled and looked great. Not able to leave well enough alone, it is now getting a 6" suspension kit and 37's. I probably should have spent the cash the first time and put the 6" on to begin with.
