Which Dash Cover?
Hey all,
I can't stand looking at the Mohave Desert ofdashboard that I currently have. So I need advice of those that have tried them. What do you all think?
If you recommend one and have pictures please post the pics and perhaps somebody who has this same question in the future can make a good, informed decision.
For instance, I've heard people say the coverlay is junk and doesn't fit well, but others have said it's ok or good.I haven't seen pictures of either.
Thanks a lot. I hope most of you never have to deal with this, I've seen vehicles from the 80's in junkyards with better looking dashes than mine.

i know 2 people that have the coverlay dash covers- both are satisfied...
1 of them received theirs the wrong size and had to haggle around a week or two to get them to send correct one...

I'm voting for the Geno's as that is what I have. Took a few bad pictures from when I did the install last christmas and posted them in this thread.

I would have to say that we have NO GOOD viable options that I know of. 1. Carpet dashes look like ****. 2. Coverlay is better than the carpet ****, but you have to paint it, it dont fit well, and the glue only holds for about a week. this is what I have now.I dunno a junkyard dash maybe, well I cant find 1. Im saving up for a new dash from Mopar. You know, the ones made out of the same crap as the dashs across the land that have already cracked. Hell, maybe I'll fabricate a dash from the 1st Gen trucks to fit my 2000................ I liked them better anyways

Nateblong,
Do you happen to have pics of where it doesn't fit so well?
I live about 4 hours from San Angelo. It's pretty much the middle of nowhere here in Texas. I've contemplated driving there and seeing the fit for myself, but that's a heck of a day for a $130 part.
I'm 100% with you on the carpeted dash pads, only a bed cap screams more Grandpa than a carpeted dash.No offense to you bed cap guys, but I just can't stand them.

sorry, no experience here (yet). but for the $130-160 or so, it might be worth the gamble of trying the cover. worst that could happen is that it still looks crappy and you still need a new dash. i've heard that the replacements from dodge are better quality, but that could be bs. one thing i do know for sure - one from the junk yard would be the exact same factory POS that you've got now, and i wouldn't go through all the work to do it, and then be at risk of it cracking next week. this is a more of a question, if you do tear it all apart and replace the dash, how much more time/money would it cost to go ahead and replace heater core and ac evaporator coil, maybe even blower motor. ?
Yeah, I'm definitely not going the factory dash route. I did see pics of a coverlay installed on another ram in another forum, and Japoro's Geno's dash looks like a better fit.
The only thing about Geno's is that they only have a 2500 and 3500 choice available for order, Is the 1500 dash the exact same?

Sorry, don't mean to call anybody out in the thread title, but I didn't see a PM option for you,Japoro.
Did you have the option of ording a Ram 1500 model dash or di you just get a 2500 or 3500 series? I don't see a 1500 option on the Geno's Garage website and I think that's the one I'm going with.
