Default speakers, please help

I have just bought new 6x9's and 5 1/4's for my truck. I have a pioneer deck in it now. I got back from the city and tried to put them in. But all of the speakers are self amped or something. I tried to hook them up to the factory wires but they won't work. Do i have to get a special harness or can i just cut some wires and splice them in? Which wires do i connect to or just buy the connector. Its a 96 ram sport with the infinity speakers. I am mad as hell now at the tit that sold me the speakers because he didn't tell me i had to buy seperate connectors, he just said "oh yeah it should be easy to hook up", well it sure as hell isn't! please help.

you should just be able to connect the two wires together (per speaker), sometimes you'll need to re-wire with heavier gauged wire to support the extra watts.

another possibility is that the speakers were blown and the guy sold you broken stuff (it happens all the time with used audio equipment)

Did the speakers in the truck work before you unhooked them? If yes, there is a problem with the new speakers. If no, there could be a few things...let me know and I'll try to help.

the speakers worked before and all. Its just that the 2 wires that connected theamp to the speaker won't work with these. I have to cut it out and find the 2 wires that work for the speakers, i think. There brand new speakers right out of the box.

my new speakers worked fine with the old wiring. Only thing I had a problem with was finding which wire in teh doors were + or -. Thanks to my gf she found this site and everything was smooth sailing after that and they sound great.

I've replaced the speakers on my old '99 without issue and it had an Infinity system. The only dealio I have had with this setup is the remote wire for the Infinity amp is tricky. I just wanna be sure you had sound WITH the new Pioneer deck in. If you did, the deck is wired correctly to the amp and the speaker wires that were on the factory speakers should work with the new ones. Sorry if I sound like I'm patronizing you...I'm trying not to. It's hard to tell exactly what cha got going on.

I re-read your first post I wanna clarify; You may have figuredthis outalreadybut the infinity system that came stock consisted ofthe deck wired to a factory installed Infinity amp that powered all the speakers in the truck. If you are going to upgrade the system by adding your OWN amp to power the speakers, you have to wire the speakers separate from YOUR new amp to the speakers INDIVIDUALLY. In this case you cannot use the wires that were on the factory speakers.
Let me know if I'm just making you more frustrated.

the12volt.com is a good car stereo/elec forum that has a lot of good wiring diagrams. and if you have to run new wires its not that hard took about 2 hours to do it, and i think it was worth it then messin with all the stock stuff...

I put the deck in last March and everything worked fine. Ill give you a play by play. I pulled the door panel off, pulled the old speakers out, cut the white and blue wire that connected the speaker to the plastic moon shape "amp?". Then just on the one side i played some music on the deck and just temperarely hooked the wires to the speakers, there was sound on all the others but the new one. I just wanted to try everything before pulling all of the speakers out and then finding out that none worked. So i don't know why they didn't but i was a little discouraged. There are 4 wires running to a connector then 4 out to the "amp?" that hook onto the speaker. Then there are 2 wires coming out of the amp thing and then hook to the speaker. I was thinking that only 2 of the 4 are to run the speaker and 2 are for the amp thing. But maybe i'm just an idiot, i don't know. But just running new wires from the deck sounds like a good idea, BIGRED97.
