Ok I live ing portland Oregon im heading down to topeka kansas because my mom was killed in a car accident and so im going down there to buy a truck to bring a trailer back with some stuff back in a 14x8 wells cargo trailer. Well ive alwas wanted a dodge ram 4x4 after my mom had one it was a 95 ex cab 4x4 with a 360. Well i found one that i like its a 2000 dodge ram extended cab with the 2 suiced back doors, power windows locks and keyless entry 5.2 liter auto lifted 6" with 37x13.50x16 its priced at 7500 but i was trying my hardest to find this but in a 360 or diesel in that price rang and im looking for a truck in the kansas ok missoruri nebraska areas. So whats the differnts in the 318 vs 360 besides size and power?

the engines are nearly identical, the 5.9 has like 30 more tq, then the 5.2 litre which surprisengly makes a big diffrence as far as towing goes. i suspect if you try and tow a 14 foot enclosed trailor loaded up with the 5.2 litre with oversized tires its going to be a total dog on even the slighest hills. also take a look on this website it tells all about the engines.

good luck getting through the mountians with that trailer. my suggestion would be to hold out for a 360 or cummins if at all possible.

If you can - ask what the gear ratio is. I suspect with 37" tire, the gear ratio had to be changed... or it would be a serious dog. I would guess the gearing is probably to 4.56. If the truck has gears that low... you might be OK...

Thats a sharp looking truck... price a lil steep tho. got my 2000 ram 1500 sport 4x4 with 96k miles 5.9 for6500 not an extended cab but i wouldnt look for a truck cause it has a lift kit on it, and other bolt on parts.thats something you can add to the truck down the road when your not towing a large trailer. I like my 5.9 never drove the 5.2 so i cant say what i would wrather have. My truck came with a 3 inch lift, tires and rims already on, with an exhast too so that price a bit high for that old with that many miles in my opinion

All the trucks around this area is aroundthat much that has no rust and looks good the trailer isnt all the big but i want a ex cab 4x4 but il keep looking im also willing to go 250 miles from Topeka if anyone kno of one being sold
