Violent front end shake 94 Dodge Ram, 1500
Looking for help. When I am driving at or above 45-50MPH and hit a decent bump in the roadthefront-end of my truck shakes and vibrates with an increasing violence until I slow way down then it subsides. I dont know alot about sway bars and/or bushings or front suspension period. But, i would like to get t he problem resolved as it is quite annoying andI fear dangerous. Any suggestions of where I should start my focus without taking it straight to the shop would be most helpful.
start with your trac bar
If you don't know what it is, it is a bar just over an inch in diameter that runs from a mount just below the passenger front coil spring to a bracket on the driver side frame rail. The top end is a ball joint, and they go all the time. To check it, just watch that joint while someone else rocks the steering wheel side to side. If the joint moves, it's junk.

I thank everyone who has provided information on my concerns for the "wobble".
My next question would be about the "trac bar". From what I have read only 4x4s have trac bars. Is this true? If so, well my truck is a 2WD so what else could be the problem? I have been under the truck looking and from whatI can tell its looks like the different bushings I see are worn and cracked and perhaps even chunked out some. Should I maybe go with replacing the ball joints and tie rod? If so could someone provide links to the specific parts I should purchase?
