+1, mines all open 3"... It breathes.

 

Actually, I'd recommend 2.25 if you're going dual out unless you're pushing more than 350hp. If you're worried about the size at the rear looking too puny, you can always get bigger tips.

Steve actually randual 2.5's and reduced the 2.25's and foundhis '00ran better withthe smaller pipe. He wrote a thread about it somewhere around here.

 

well i have 3" SI /DO 2.5" no lost in low end , power runs pretty damn good..

 

2.5s fine for fake duals

2.25s for true duals. or at least that's what i hear.

 

Thanks for the info, the exhaust guy said to do the exhaust I want he may need to run 2.25. Would it make his life easier if I got a 2.5/2.25 si/do? Is stock pipe on a 96 2.5? Thanks again.

 

THIS is such a myth with all that little pipe crap lol, seriouslly. We are telling you at first hand that we run these 3"in/2.50" out systems, and we didnt loose power, we only gained power! For a true dual, yes, 2.25". My brother got away with a 2.50" true dual because his engine is just so dman big, but for most trucks, 2.25" piping is appropriate for true duals. But as indicated be4, "fake duals" can be 3" inlet/2.5" outlets. I run it, pa does, and many others do here as well, and if we lost power, we'd let ya know! If your going to get the system, do it if your going to do it, theres nothing worse than having 2.25" piping, what good is this lol, and besides that, it looks queer, its flimsy, and its hard to find nice tips for that size piping too. go with the 2.50" outlets, your not going to feel a huge gain , but no loss.

 

Don't do that. If you're going SI/DO go 3inch into 2.5
otherwise you're just wasting alot of money.

 

96 rams have 2.5" pipe stock... with my truck anymore if i go to sheetz , lowes , walmart , people are allways stopping me and saying how they love the sound or like the truck..
