Default Exhaust Sound

Should I go with a Super 44 or an original 40 series? I can't make up my mind. All the inernet vids are so distorted it's hard to tell what the difference's are. Any input from anyone who has heard both in person would be appreciated. Thanks

see im in the same boat kind of. I think i have the same setup as padodgeram i have a 95 dodge ram but with the 8 ft bed 3inch inlet into 2.5' outlets with a flowmaster 40 and too me its not nearly as loud as padodgeram's. you said you had a high flow cat converter, could you possibly give me a link to the same exact one you have? I want my truck to sound just like it. And do tips make any difference?

Just do it like mine, gut the cat, and throw a big tip on there- this is my old video, when it was 3 inch to the axle, but now its shorter, and alot louder

Thanks for the replies, Cereal Killer my truck is almost identical to yours. Yours sounds really good. Ramguy are you sure you have the original 40 series? I had an original on my 4.7 dakota and it sounded nice.

Here's my link for the super 44, i dont think it sounds distorted except for the 1 sec of wind howling .

flowmaster super 44

From what Im told, tips can add to the sound of an exhaust. It all depends on the size and length of the tips that will change the tone.

I run that dual super 44 system with a gutted cat and two 22"x4" tips, and it sounds boss to say the least bud. I think you and I were discussing running two pipes out the same side before the tire right?? I think that will really sound great. The 44 has that new contemporary sound. I will say though, the 40 series is rated "louder" than the 44. BUT, the 44 is rated deeper and it actually is a performance muffler. The 40 series is "old technology" as flowmaster says. The 44 was designed with an internal that included gaining performance. The 40 series is just loud, it doesn't really offer a free flowing internal like the 44 does. Either way, they are both rediculous. Even more so if you gut the cat, run an intake system and perhaps headers down the road. Either way, you are not going to be dissapointed. I've heard both mufflers, and they are both INSANE to say the least. Don't forget tips either, they look great on a truck, and really project the final note of the exhaust, it's the tongue roll of an exhaust..

Yeah I think I may try a 44 I just want it to have a deep sound and lose no low end. Also going to put out 18" rolled tips. Thanks guys.
