RE: carburated 318
you'll also need a new fuel system. running a carb takes significantly less fuel pressurethan a fuel injected setup. in most people's eyes switching to a carb is alot of unnecessary expense and hassle. you'll likely need to switch all your gauges to aftermarket versions as well, because they are PCM controlled and you'll need to eliminate PCM control in your setup. same goes for transmission, if it's electronic controlled at all, you're likely going to have problems.
unless it's an all-out drag only buildup where you don't care about driveability or having working equipment, stick with the fuel injection.

yea, i was going to run a fuel pressure regulator, cuz with an edelbrock performer you are only supposed to run 6 psi...
To do this swap, you will have to:
-install an old 5 wire ECU and dist., or an aftermarket dist.
-get a 727 or 518 transmission + linkage
-swap out all gauges
-install older externally regulated or GM 1-wire alternator
-re-wire brake switch and MFS
-remove in-tank fuel pump and install in-line electric unit.
There will be other sundries, too.
This is a feasible conversion for the old throttle body LA blocks, but definitely not worth it on amagnum. Both fuel economy and performance will suffer greatly.
