Default NEW P CODE= *OVERDRIVE SPECIALIST NEEDED*

so for thanksgiving my dad and i drove downto tennessee and of cource since it has sat for a little while it had a few problems. i replaced the heater core a month ago but never got the a/c refilled. going down the highway rpms reved to 3 thousand for no reason repeatedly then went back down to 2.5 thousand... changed the TPS and IAC= p code 0121. since we had no a/c the a/c compressor clutch got jammed and made a repeated weird sounds against the serpenine belt, pulled out the 10 amp fuse and the relay for the a/c clutch= p code 0645. now we got home and i decided to run a check once more= 0645, but i knew that one would come up, we got the P code P 1740. so the codes went P 0121, P 1740, and when i got home i noticed P 0645, i dont know when the last code came on because the engine light was one almost the whole trip.

my question is what is P 1740? THANKS GUYS

You could do what I did and take it to a shop and let them do it lol. I took mine toa dealership and thats when I found out why people on here call them stealerships. I got told a quote and it was a ****load more but after doing the work I couldn't say f you I'm not paying plusI needed my truck

if its the OD (over drive) solinoid it should be pritty easy to change, and really your TC (torque converter) isnt that hard to do ither, however if it is the TC i woundent leave it too long, as it breaks apart your going to have pieces floating around your tranny, TC going could also explain why you were jumping 500 rpm

when my dad drove he did set in the od just to see if it works, then turned it off without letting off the gas and went a mile or so with it in 3000 rpm then let go and it shifted. Sounds to me like the od solenoid... do i still have to open the trans to see if thats it? if so can i do it myself?

p.s. crasy rpms went away after i changed the TPS and IAC.
