FYI: Dodge does NOT use any paper gaskets when doin diffs. they only use RTV silicone based fast set.
Dodge may not sell it to ya. call first.
otherwise look at napa or autozone for silicone based quick dry rtv. my stuff was orange.

to tell your gear ratio when you have the cover off count the #of teeth on the ring and divide it by the # of teeth on the pinion (eg 41 teeth on the ring 10 teeth on the pinion, 41/10=4.1 or 4.10 gears)
to tell if its limited slip when you have the cover off just look for the cluch disc packs

RE: Rear Diff Fluid Change
i wouldn't put any rtv on the rubber gasket.
wedges ? i don't know. a stiff putty knife is best, as it cuts the seal without bending the cover.
MMO. no. if you have lsd then you need a small bottle of friction modifier. if you have open, then just put in your 90w oil and nothing else.
paper sticker on drivers side rear axle tube will identify open vs limited slip.
note pictures below. the carrier of the lsd has more stuff in it, incl clutches and clips.
picture of open diff.
picture of limited slip.

well.. I'm following up... I did my front and rear diffs today. Changed out the oil with some Lucas 80w-90. Added a bottle of friction modifier to the rear as well. Used the black RTV and everything went smooth... and it's difficult not to get the rap on yourself.. so now I smell like a rear end! hahah
