autolite 3923's as mentioned are the best plug for the mag motor...

another suggestion is to stick with the mopar cap & rotor. they seem to last the longest. if you want better mileage, I talked with another member here about the TPS mod and he mentioned that he went from .6 volts up to the recommended .7~.75 volts off the tps and gained a mile per gallon... worth a shot.

On a side note. I wanted to know what is better. The autolite 3923 or the 3922. I saw on another post that the 3922 is colder. But if since heat is never a good thing, is the 3922 better then the 3923 for high performance aplications.

Hello folks, I am in the Durango Forum but I have just removed my Autolite Platinums and switched to A/L Copper, like SinCity and others. Although my D 4.7 ran o.k, no rough idle but the overall mpg dropped from the Factory Champions. I just completed a 75K service, annual if you will. Trans/Fluid/filter, Oil/Filter, Brake inspection, and ofcourse swapping the Platinums for Copper. I was going to ask why everyone was in 3923's ( mine are 5224) but then I re-read the title and saw that this is a 5.9 thread. oh well, please allow my strayness from the Durango Forum, give me a little time to monitor but hopefullly the economy will improve, at least as much as it can for a 4000 + GVWR. Thanks again for your hospitality in allowing a D member in your house for a few minutes.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!! GO NAVY!!!!

well winter gas usally is thinner and has methanol hydrate (gas line antifreeze) in it
but i wondered what exactly the difference was so i googled it....

It's not all winter gas:

Winter gas is oxygenated to help burn, and it contains additives to keep it from gelling up and to dry out your gas lines and counteract the effects of condensation in holding tanks.

Also, the cold airis denser so you vehicle has more drag, the tire pressure is lower, and the rubber gets harder so it has more rolling resistance. The cold can also cause the truck to run rich for longer until the engine reaches operatingtemp.

Not to mention that in most modern vehicles theA/C system is on even if you're just using heat, and most people let their vehicle warm up before they drive it when its really cold. All this adds up to poor mileage.
