Default 285/75/16

My tires I have now are crap. I managed to get 2 nice snow tires with the studs for 40 bucks for both. But Next spring Im going to get all 4 brand new tires and call it good. So, i was thinking of getting something that will fill up the wheel wells a little bit and go from a 245/75/16 to 285/75/16's. I looked up the tire conversion chart and it appears that the 245/75/16's come to 30.5" x 9.6 wide. Going from that to a 285/75/16 it measures out to be 32.8 11.2 wide. Would I be able to fit those on my truck without any problems? I plan to go with an A/T tire like a BFG or General A/T 2's. My truck is a 95 4x4 SLT Laramie Reg cab long bed. Any input would be good.

Oh nice, but i do notice that my front end is slightly a little lower than the back. Think I'll be alright? and do you have a picture of your truck? I'd really like to see how it would look.

that's also the size i run right now, they rub quite a bit at full lock, but it doesn't take long to figure out how tight you can turn & not rub

when i get new tires, i'll probably be going back down to 265/75/16 or 245/75/16. the 285's and stock 3.55 gearing makes the truck an absolute dog around town.

Since you have an off road version you already have a 2" lift. My truck has no lift and fits the 285 very well. No rubbing what so ever.

I like that 285/75/16 size, it's pretty realistic for everything. It's a lot bigger than most truck tires, yet can still be used for anything. It has the ability to be a great mud tire, or a great working tire. It also is very easy to find it as E rated, which is nice if you towe legitimate loads around town. It's also not so big that it's going to ruin the mobility of a truck, even if it has 3.55 gearing. I do however think 285 is the max you'd ever want to go with 3.55 gearing, because yes, she will be a dog around town and accelleration will be down the gutter.

Since he has the offroad package he should have the 4.10s

Another option for a 33" tire on factory 16" rims is a 255/85/16. It's about an inch narrower than a 285/75/16. May help decrease the chances of rubbing. Only downside is there aren't a lot of companies making that size. I think Cooper makes an AT in that size though, as does Interco with the Truxxus tire.

HAHA ICEMAN you little ****er lol!! But on the other note, I thought the offroads came with 17" wheels, and he has 16's right? Or did he get aftermarket wheels? Also, if he does have 4.10, that should be plently. I have 4.10 as well, and it seems to do fine lugging the 35's around
