cai filter cleaning
what do you use to clean the cai filter, i have an air raid system and i was told you can simply clean em after so many miles to get more life out of them.just regular soap and water or just water or is there a solution you should use
there's a cleaning kit you should use. don't use straight soap and water
the kit strips the dirt and re-oils he filter. you can get one at any auto parts store. I'm not 100% sure but I think you could use a K&N "recharge" kit and an air raid kit interchangebly.

oh ok, haha i almost went for the bucket and hose, sounds good, i mean im not sure how much the filter is exactly, if its just as easy to replace it if its not too costly i never bought the filter myself if yas are wonderin.
Yeah, I'd say you should probably be able to use the K&N Recharge kit with the Air Raid. Just use low pressure water to get the filter really clean and follow the included instructions And be sure not to over oil or you will have to reclean it
yes use the proper cleaning kit/oil...some people say to just use dish soap to wash, and WD40 to oil...this is a bad idea, especially since WD40 is basically kerosene (sucking a flammable liquid into your intake = BAD)

excerpts from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WD-40
There is a popular Urban Legend that the main ingredient in WD-40 is fish oil. Although it is unknown whether the formula contains fish oil, material safety data sheets for the product show that the main ingredient is Stoddard solvent, not fish oil
Formulation
Main ingredients, from the material safety datasheet, are:
[ul][*]50%: Stoddard solvent (mineral spirits, somewhat similar to, but not the same as, kerosene)[*]25%: Liquefied petroleum gas (presumably as a propellant, carbon dioxide is used now to reduce considerable flammability)[*]15+%: Mineral oil (light lubricating oil)[*]10-%: Inert ingredients [/ul]
never the less you dont want to oil your CAI filter with it
