Poke around here and you'll see pics I posted of my heater core. It could have a couple of small leaks in it. Mine did and the truck wbarely got warm. Now, that thing roasts me with it barely into the Hot range.

He said he flushed it all out although he said it's hard to tell if it has a leak with it all apart. We did determine we think the A/C is trying to blow at the same time as the heat though.

Good lord! $12-$15 for a Haynes will be money well spent. Here's the DIY for it and it's loaded with pictures.

Define "tried to flush" the heater core. Either you have an air pocket or, as I previously stated, your heater core is leaking. You won't know until you pull the dash, so roll up your shirt sleeves and dig in.

How much will a 180 T-stat affect the heat?

Update for me: Got the coolant flushed and a t-stat put in. The heat improved a lot, but still isn't where it should be in my opinion for a regular cab truck. But, it's livable.

It was 9 here in Saint Peters MO too. I had to put my truck over on recirculate to get it warm inside. I just think it is pulling in such cold air that it does not have a chance to get warm. Try that. Also look at your gauge, you may need to put a piece of cardboard in front the radiator to give it a chance. That is what I might try next. BTY on the drive home, it was normal.
